Konepaja Spoken Word is a new English-language open stage and international community for spoken word, poetry, and performance.
The second edition is organized by Helsinki Poetry Connection in collaboration with Kino Konepaja and Catalysti Association of Transcultural Artists, and produced by Vinski Valos.
This open stage welcomes poets, performers, storytellers, and experimental voices working with text, voice, movement, sound, and presence. Whether your work leans toward poetry, performance art, short fiction, monologue, or something in between or beyond, this is a space to try out new material, share ongoing processes, and connect with others working with language and performance in Helsinki.

You do not have to follow the theme strictly. It’s a prompt for those who choose.

The evenings are open to both first-time performers and experienced artists. Come to perform, listen, and be part of a growing community. The focus is on sharing, experimentation, risk-taking, and live encounters. We would love to hear your words, whether carefully crafted or spontaneous. Helsinki Poetry Connection ry (tuttavallisemmin ”HPC”) on vuonna 2013 perustettu puoluepoliittisesti sitoutumaton ja kaikille avoin yhdistys, jonka tarkoitus on edistää lavarunouden asemaa ja toimintaedellytyksiä Suomessa. Yhdistys aloitti toimintansa rekisteröimättömänä kollektiivina vuonna 2008.
HPC:n toiminnan pääalue on yleisötapahtumien järjestäminen. Erilaisille kohderyhmille suunnattujen tapahtumien kautta kollektiivi pyrkii tavoittamaan mahdollisimman laajalti niin vanhoja kuin uusia lavarunouden ystäviä ja myös sellaisia ihmisiä, jotka eivät tavallisesti elämässään törmäisi esitettyyn runouteen. Tapahtumissa tarjotaan esiintymismahdollisuuksia niin kokeneille kuin vasta aloitteleville tekijöille ja harrastajille. Lisäksi kollektiivi työllistää tapahtumissaan tuottajia, juontajia, graafikoita, valokuvaajia, dj:itä ja ääniteknikkoja.
Tapahtumatoiminnan lisäksi HPC pyrkii kasvattamaan lavarunouden tunnettuutta dokumentoimalla sitä (videot, podcast), opettamalla sen tekemistä (Lavarunoakatemia, työpajat) ja lisäämällä tietoa ja ymmärrystä lajista (kirjoitukset, luennot, Wikipedia-artikkelien päivittäminen). Lisäksi HPC raportoi ja dokumentoi toimintaansa eri muodoissa. Yhdistys pyrkii jatkuvasti kehittämään jo olemassaolevaa toimintaansa sekä uusia toimintamuotoja.
HPC:n toiminnan yksi peruslähtökohdista on saavutettavuus: Tapahtumiin ja toimintaan osallistuminen on ilmaista; yhdistys pyrkii järjestämään tapahtumansa mahdollisuuksien mukaan esteettömissä tiloissa; ja se jatkaa saavutettavuutensa kehittämistä edelleen toiminnassaan muiltakin osin. HPC:n tapahtumissa noudatetaan turvallisemman tilan periaatteita.
Toimintavuosi suunnitellaan siten, että yhdistyksellä on mahdollisuus tarttua lyhyelläkin aikataululla kiinnostaviin yhteistyöehdotuksiin ja uusiin toimintamuotoihin yhdistyksen jäsenten ideoiden pohjalta. Yhdistys haluaa pysyä toiminnassaan eloisana, ajankohtaisena ja monipuolisena.
HPC:n hallituksen muodostaa 6-11-henkinen ryhmä, jonka yhdistyksen jäsenet valitsevat huhtikuun vuosikokouksessa tarvittaessa äänestämällä. Hallituksen muodostavat puheenjohtaja, varapuheenjohtaja, sihteeri, varasihteeri ja 6 muuta hallituksen jäsentä. Voidaan myös valita 2 varajäsentä. Hallitus kokoontuu vähintään kymmenen kertaa toimintavuotensa aikana. Hallituksen kokouksissa tehdään päätöksiä yhdistyksen toimintaan liittyen.
