Mystery of The Male God: An International Literary Evening

Helsinki, Finland – On 20th of May 2026, writers Eeva Maria al-Khazaali and Henry al-Muthanna (US/SRB) will present Mystery of The Male God, a literary event at Permantosali, Tekstin talo, Helsinki. The evening brings together a novel reading, spoken word poetry, conversation between the authors, and an open mic for emerging voices.

The program explores themes of identity, language, power, and vulnerability through literature and performance. At the center of the event are excerpts from al-Khazaali’s novel The Male God and spoken word performances from al-Muthanna’s poetry collection Mystery of Misery.

The evening begins with a short interview about The Male God, followed by a reading by al-Khazaali. The authors will then switch roles, as al-Khazaali interviews al-Muthanna about his poetry. The program continues with a spoken word performance by al-Muthanna and concludes with a Q&A session.

After a short break, the stage opens to the public with a multilingual open mic hosted by al-Muthanna. Participants are invited to share poetry, short prose, or spoken word pieces in any language.
